Find answers to common questions about costs, timelines and more
How much does a website cost?
A personal website with around five pages (e.g. Home, About, Gallery, Blog and Contact) starts at £1,250. The final cost may vary depending on any extra features or specific requirements. If you’d like a more accurate quote, just get in touch - I’d be happy to chat about your project!
What does the cost of my website cover?
The cost of your website covers the entire design and development process, from concept to launch. Here’s a breakdown of what’s included:
- A fully custom site design and build tailored to your business
- A Content Management System (CMS) so you can easily update your content
- Hosting setup to get your site live
- Performance optimisation for fast loading times and smooth navigation
- SEO optimisation to help your site rank well in search engines
- 1 month of design revisions after going live *
Before starting the design, we’ll confirm the number of pages and content to be included. The cost will cover the agreed-upon work. If you need more pages or sections later, I can accommodate these changes at an additional cost
* This covers small changes like adjusting text, swapping out images, or fine-tuning layouts to ensure everything feels just right.
What are your payment terms?
For most projects, I usually ask for a 50% deposit upfront, with the remaining balance due when your website is ready to go live. For larger projects, I can offer milestone-based payments. We can discuss a payment plan that works best for you before we get started.
How long does it take to complete a website?
Personal Website (4-5 weeks)
A personal website, such as an artist portfolio / blog, typically takes around 4-5 weeks. These sites usually feature around 5 main pages with straightforward functionality. The timeline includes planning, design, development and thorough testing to ensure the site is functional and user-friendly.
Small Business Website (6-8 weeks)
A small business website generally requires 6-8 weeks to complete. This typically includes 6-10 pages with more complex features like booking systems or multiple service pages. The timeline allows for additional rounds of feedback and revisions.
Ecommerce Website (8-10 weeks)
Ecommerce websites, which include features like online stores, payment gateways, and inventory management, usually take 8-10 weeks. This accounts for the complexity of secure transactions, product listings and a smooth shopping experience for users.

Can you work with existing websites or redesign them?
If your existing website is built on a platform like WordPress, Wix, or something similar, I’m happy to take a look and see how I can help. Whether it’s improving performance, updating content, or giving the design a fresh look, I can help make your site faster, more modern and easier to use.
Just a heads up - I'm unable to take on projects created by other developers, nor do I use WordPress or page builders for my own projects.
Do you use Wordpress, Wix, Squarespace etc?
No, I don't use these platforms. While they offer quick setups, they can come with trade-offs in performance, security and flexibility. Many users don't realise that these platforms often generate a large amount of bloated code behind the scenes, which can slow down your site and cause potential issues.
As a developer, having full control over the inner workings of your code allows me to deliver a faster, more reliable, and error-free website without the limits of templated solutions.
While custom built websites may take a little more time to develop than templated ones, the end result is always a site that works exactly how you need it to.

Will I be able to edit and update my website content?
Yes, you'll be able to easily edit and update your website content using Sanity Studio, a simple, user-friendly headless CMS (Content Management System). I’ll walk you through how to use it, so you’ll feel confident making updates. Additionally, a headless CMS is safer than providing access to the backend of platforms like WordPress, significantly reducing the risk of accidentally breaking your website!
What technologies and platforms do you use?
For static websites, I use Astro - a JavaScript framework built for speed and efficiency. Static sites are perfect for things like artist portfolios, brochures, or small businesses that don’t need frequent updates.
For more sophisticated web solutions, I use Laravel - a PHP framework that’s great for creating powerful web applications.
For content management, I use Sanity Studio - a headless Content Management System (CMS) that makes managing your content a breeze. You’ll have full control and be able to update your site with ease - no technical skills required!
Do you offer SEO services?
Yes, I include both on-page and technical SEO services as part of my web design and development packages. This helps Google’s search bots easily crawl and index your site, while also making sure it’s well-structured, meets the latest web standards and has optimised images. I’ll also set up all the necessary meta fields, create a user-friendly URL structure and focus on fast page load times to improve your site’s performance.
To keep your SEO strong over time, I recommend adding fresh content to your site, like a blog post. This not only keeps visitors engaged but also signals to search engines that your site is active and relevant, which can help improve your rankings and visibility.
Will my website require ongoing maintenance?
My websites are custom-coded for high performance and reliability, so they don’t require frequent updates like WordPress sites. However, to keep everything running smoothly, I offer a maintenance service at £30 per session, recommended twice per year. This includes essential framework updates, performance improvements and general site health checks. If you ever need page updates or technical support, just get in touch.
Can you help with domain registration and hosting?
Yes, I can help with domain registration and hosting setup. I’ll assist you in picking out the perfect domain name for your business and help you choose the right hosting plan. Once that’s all sorted, I’ll make sure everything is properly configured to work with your website.
What do you need from me to get started?
To get started, I’ll need a bit of info about your business, your target audience and any branding materials you have (like logos, color schemes, etc). I’ll also need the content for your site, such as text and images. The more details you can provide upfront, the smoother the process will be! And if you're unsure about your content, don't worry - I can help with that too!
